Origins
Report
The Prairie Home story began back in the mid-1990's when John McCarthy starting thinking about the care needs of his aging mother, Grace.
After looking around at many Elder Care facilities, he became aware of the lack of real emotional connection between the elderly residents who live in these homes and those who care for them.
This lack of emotional interaction was upsetting to John, who felt that providing for the physical and health needs of an elderly person is not enough.
He believed that the elderly also need emotional and spiritual care.

Report
This pandemic has made everything more complicated, so it was very stressful to try and place my mother in a CBRF after the state of Wisconsin had gone into a shutdown mode.
I had reached the point where as primary caregiver for my 87 year old mother, I realized I could no longer provide the care she needed.
As my family had previous experience with Prairie Home - my grandmother was a resident back when they first opened - I got in touch with them.
I immediately knew I had made the right decision.
